Writers’ Treasure is ON!

Command prompt: switch https://www.writerstreasure.com – on
Command successful. Writers’ Treasure is now online.

And here I am. Since June of 2011, in some cases even earlier, I have been studying for my SSC exams. It’s been a long while. Study, study and study. It’s been boring, lengthy, and above all, exhausting.

As you can imagine, so much study didn’t leave any time for writing. So I didn’t get to write any new blog articles in those months, and I was also forced to put my novel back on hold for another year (it’s been in development for right about three years).

Still, whenever I got free time, I wrote. That happened in September and December, when I wrote How to Master Clarity in Writing and How to Write an Essay — Part I respectively. Then January came and my study time increased feverishly. Suddenly in vain I tried to look for free time and when it came, for hours only, I was too tired to write. My writing didn’t have strength. So I did the only thing that was to be done… I put Writers’ Treasure on hold for a few months until the SSC examinations would end (which would be held in March).

The great thing is that even though I stopped writing, Writers’ Treasure still received two new articles from guests. I was proud to publish the two brilliant guest posts and you can read them from the homepage or the archives.

And then March came and my SSC exams started. March passed in a bit of a blur. I had to write my papers for twenty and a half hours combined. But that’s all over now. What had to happen happened: my exams finished on March 28, 2012.

That leaves us to…. holidays. Yes, you read it right. I finally have free time to myself, and that means Writers’ Treasure is now on. Or on. Or ON. The capitals are just for emphasis, but I’m not sorry for them.

So what does that leave in store for you all? A lot of things. Let’s look them over one by one:

Who Else Wants to Master the Creative Writing Skills?

So you now know about the creative writing skills, and want to master them too, but don’t know how?

Not to worry. These creative writing skills are easy to grasp, easy to know, and easy to master.

(Note: Of course for every person these skills may not be easy to master. Someone will find them easy, and some other person may find them as hard as climbing Mt. Everest. It depends on how hard you are willing to work).

With the disclaimer out of the way, let’s get to the real stuff: let’s learn how to master talent, the most important creative writing attribute!

I hear you saying, “Talent? We can’t master talent. It’s inborn.”

That’s true, but how about a nifty little trick to ensure that you never have to worry about talent even if you don’t have a single ounce of it?

Ready? Let’s get to it, then. 😀

Writing Tip: Experiment with Free-writing

Free-writing. What is that? You write freely? It isn’t a technical description, but yes, the meaning is similar. Write whatever comes in your head. Just write. That’s all. But even though it’s simple, it’s powerful.

But what is it useful for?

Have you ever been stuck? I mean, you opened your word processor and freaked out at seeing the blank page? Did you have that feeling of writers’ block? The feeling of not being able to write a single word? If it did happen to you, it’s not a matter of worry. It happens to everyone.

The reason it happens is usually that the brain is focused intently upon what you’re going to write. Writing is a mental process. If you get too focused and tense, wondering how you’re going to commit pen down to paper (virtually), then of course, that feeling will happen.

So yes, it’s no big deal not being able to write. But how do you get rid of that feeling so that you actually get some writing done?

Common Mistakes Made by Creative Writers

Creative writing is a difficult art. We learn and we improve, yet we often slip up and make common mistakes. These mistakes are so common that everyone is tired of them, no one mentions them anymore. And as new writers come along, these mistakes are made again and again.

Are these mistakes really unavoidable? No, not at all. By avoiding these mistakes, your writing will be better, and you will see that by not making them, you became a better writer.

So to solve this problem I created a list of creative writing mistakes to avoid. By being conscious of the mistakes, you can be careful and not make them in your fiction, articles, reports, etc.

Fiction Writing 101: The Elements of Stories

Which is one of the most popular forms of creative writing?

You guessed it: fiction writing. Novels are written every month and every year. The vast majority don’t see the light of day (a fancy expression meaning getting published). Some do. Some become bestsellers. Some don’t even sell a few copies.

Why?

What makes the difference between writing a really good story that people read with pleasure and a boring one that makes readers throw it across the room?
