Change of Post Frequency

Hi guys, this is not so much of a writing tip post as much of a general update. (Don’t say I didn’t warn you! :-))

My posting schedule for the past has been… well not a schedule. I used to post just when I felt like it, and for the entire last week, no posts were published because I was ill with cold. Yeah, great.

Now, I am changing my post frequency. You guys can expect a new post every week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Monday is the day where I will post a “killer article” (term by Daniel Scocco), i.e, a really long, structured and information packed article, usually above the word count of 700 words. On Wednesday and Friday I will post normal posts (news, quick tips, endorsements, debates, etc).

I will also be starting a biweekly newsletter for Writers’ Treasure. Now, I’ve subscribed to too many crap newsletters so that I know what you people don’t like, and I’ll try not to do that. You can expect a free eBook on novel writing (available only as opt-in gift), some more content rich messages (kind of a continuation of that) and a regular newsletter which will be emailed once in every two weeks on Sunday. So far, this process should take about a month and a half to complete and then you will be able to sign up for it. So stay tuned!

Wondering when I’ll next post an article? Don’t worry — it won’t be delayed or something, it will be posted on Wednesday. I’ve got some really great articles on short stories to entertain and inform you, so you just have to wait. See you on Wednesday.

In the meantime, you may want to read the Writing Tips series of articles.

Thanks for reading,

Idrees Patel

Writers’ Treasure is BackWriters’ Treasure is Back

After two and a half months of non-existence, Writers’ Treasure is now well and truly back. In fact, it will be stronger than it was previously, so you can now expect to see at least one post weekly (and sometimes even two).

The reason for no posts? Well, there wasn’t just one, there were many. First came the school exams, second came vacation (holidays), and third came a cough, cold and fever that happened thrice. Ouch.

But explanations are tiny, aggravating things, not to be bothered about (*as I’m sure you’ll agree*). What matters most is that Writers’ Treasure is now once more The Definitive Guide to Creative Writing Success, not a blog which is dead.

Writers’ Treasure Redesign: Minimalist, Responsive, Better TypographyWriters’ Treasure Redesign: Minimalist, Responsive, Better Typography

After nearly a year of waiting, the new Writers’ Treasure design is here. Yup, it’s finally here. After last redesigning this blog way back in December 2010, I started work on this design a year ago, but was forced to put it on hold for my exams (see last article). But now, it’s here. And it looks better than ever, don’t you think?

The key features of this redesign are:

  • Minimalist. Over the last year or so, web design trends have rapidly evolved. From clutter and the mess that were three-column designs came minimalism and two-column designs. There’s something so soothing about cream backgrounds and simple two columns… much better than the three-column mess the old design used to be (and not to mention that the new cream background looks so much better than the old oh-so-garish dark blue background). This is a writer’s blog, and now, it really looks like it.

Many tasks are difficult for writers.

As in, even many parts of the entire writing process are difficult. In fact, nothing is easy in writing. Not even the pros find it easy. All they do is make it look easy, but ask them whether they found it difficult in the beginning and the answer will most certainly be in the affirmative.

Content writing, editing and proofreading, and publishing. All these three tasks sound confusing, but they’re not. Broken down into small chunks, they’re doable. Millions are at least doing it.

Few, though, are doing it the right way.

The reasons for that run in the hundreds. One of the most true come down to time, or more precisely, the lack of it. Who has the time to even write these days, never mind the time to write well, edit and proofread it, and then finally publish it online for others to read.
